Problems loading firmware on the ESP32-based Feather Breakout and Development Board
The board does not go into a boot mode with both Arduino (using the Adafruit ESP32 Feather as the board) and using ESP32 idf.py with ESP32 as the target. I have been using the ESP32 DevKitC without any issues. I downloaded the latest CP210x VCP driver but that did not help. I wonder if anyone has us...

I agree with your comment. I bought a couple of ESP32 feather boards a couple of weeks ago, and the reset could be used only with a sharp tool.
I am not sure if the reset pin can be used for the reset. Then you could put a button between that pin and ground assuming it has to be grounded for reset.
