Pico fuse to protect reverse power

I've blown several of the 5V 1A regulators with a power supply connection that was reversed . If I were to place a 2A 125V pico fuse in front of the regulator would that protect my circuit ? Or would the fuse be too slow to work ?

I actually don't know. The only way to know is to try and that is not very viable if you have to pay for the modules.

If the module dies because of current through the substrate diode in the IC there's a reasonable chance that a fuse can protect the module.
