Folks,
Playing with one of the ESP32-01 boards and although it fits fine in a solderless breadboard it only leaves one row of sockets for attaching wires. Has anyone ever seen any kind of perhaps a DIP ZIF socket large enough for the ESP32-01 module (I soldered the pins to the module). In my delusional world I would like to insert the module into a socket and then break that out to screw terminals since I will be making multiple changes to the overall projust.
Currently I have female headers soldered to a proto board that essentially replicates a breadboard but that still leaves me only one row of available pins that I solder headers. Perhaps simply adding a couple sets of 10 pin screw headers to each side would work. Now off to look for 2.54mm spacing screw terminal blocks for a reasonable price.
ZIF socket or prototype board for ESP32-01?
Re: ZIF socket or prototype board for ESP32-01?
I found what I was needing/wanting at http://www.winford.com/products/dta35.php
I picked up the 40 pin, DTB3540V1-FT, as I did not need the DIN mount and saved a little. Soldered in two rows of female headers and away I went. Ordered and received in just a couple days even with a Monday Holiday.

Re: ZIF socket or prototype board for ESP32-01?
This has just got to very high on my To Do list. I won't be able to use a ZIF-socket but I'll make a breakout board with screw terminals. The layout is wider than a 40-pin ZIF-socket. I'll beat the bushes and see what I can dig up.

There is now a screw terminal board available. It has 40 pins and almost any board that is designed on a 0.1" pitch can be mounted on the board and screw terminals used to connect it to the external world.
